Playing Company of Heroes Online: China
For those of you interested in checking out the open beta version of Company of Heroes Online: China, here are instructions on how you can not only play the game, but play it in English. There are three basic parts to the process, don’t worry, we’ll walk you through it:
1) Creating a Shanda Entertainment Game Account – create your account name and password to log in and play COHO: China.
2) Downloading and Installing – where to download the game from and how to install.
3) English text for COHO: China – how to edit the game to display English text.
Don’t be intimidated by the various Chinese language screens that you’ll run into during these processes, or the number of steps involved, it’s actually pretty easy to get up and running quite quickly once you have the installer downloaded. We hope you have fun!
The usual disclaimer:
This game is in the BETA stages of development, so not all features are completed and you may well encounter a bug or two. COHO works differently than regular COH in that it’s not a pure peer to peer game. While it is pretty lag friendly (we play all the time off the servers in Shanghai) if you are playing in North America or Europe I can guarantee you’ll have some lag during the game.
For many of you, this may be your first trial of a free to play microtransaction game. Many items can be bought with currency earned in game and there are some that are bought with real money. We’ve seen reports that some people have tried to buy items – for one user the credit card was accepted but another user’s card was rejected. There are some cards that work there and some don’t, depends on the bank, but a fair warning to anyone who does purchase – if you need to call customer support in China, expect it to take some time just due to the language difference.
